 CHIEF MULADE URGES NIGER DELTA GOVERNORS TO ACt FAST AHEAD OF PREDICTED FLOODS WARRI —  Renowned  rights activist and development advocate, Chief (Comrade) Mulade Sheriff, PhD, has called on Niger Delta governors to move swiftly to curb the impact of flooding forecast by the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet). In a statement issued on Monday, Mulade, who is National Coordinator of the Center for Peace and Environmental Justice, CEPEJ, and the Ibe-Sorimowei of Gbaramatu Kingdom in Delta State, said delaying action could trigger another round of devastating losses for communities across the region.  MULADE RAISES ALARM OVER MASSIVE OIL SPILL, CALLS FOR ENVIRONMENTAL EMERGENCY IN DELTA Delta State-born environmental rights and peace advocate, Chief (Comrade) Mulade Sheriff, PhD, has called on the Federal Government, Delta State Government and relevant regulatory agencies to immediately declare an environmental emergency following a major oil spill reportedly affecting several host communities in Warri South-West and Burutu Local Government Areas of Delta State. Mulade made the call in a statement issued on Wednesday, describing the incident as an environmental disaster capable of causing long-term ecological damage if urgent intervention is not undertaken.
