MILLITANTS INVADE OGHORO TWO COMMUNITY, INSTALL THEIR LEADER AS TRADITIONAL RULER
Suspected militants on Sunday invaded Aghoro two Community in Iduwini Clan, Ekeremor LGA of Bayelsa State, shattering the peace of the kingdom, displaced residents and dethroned the traditional ruler of the community.
According to the traditional ruler of Aghoro Two Community, His Highness, Ibamughan Binarede Ojukonsin, the Amananaowei of Aghoro Two, the suspected militants brandishing sophisticated weapons and charms moved round the community in commando style.
The Amananaowei of Aghoro Two, who was installed in 2009 and gazetted by the Bayelsa State in a press briefing alleged that they were living peacefully in the community, when the militants invaded the community with three speed boats shooting sporadically, on Sunday afternoon.
He further alleged that, the heavily armed militants popularly called Menbutu boys started ringing bell announcing that the Traditional Ruler has been dethroned
The Amananaowei of Aghoro Two, His Highness, Ibamughan Binarede Ojukonsin, noted that, he and some members of his family managed to escape to a neighbouring Community, where he is presently taking refuge.
He said, the next day, Monday, the militants installed their leader, an indigene of the community, Chief Afro Biukeme as the new Amananaowei of Aghoro Two Community by force.
They forced the Executive of the community to endorse him to which they refused and he started granting press conference that he is now the new Amananaowei of Aghoro Two Community.
I want to state here that, I am still alive and has not been dethroned by the Bayelsa State Government neither has the people of Aghoro Two Community has not dethroned me.
Consequently, I remain the Amananaowei of Aghoro Two Community in Iduwini Clan Ekeremor LGA of Bayelsa.
I have written to the Bayelsa State Government to notify them of this coup d'tat and illegality.
He appealed tp the Federal and Bayelsa State Governments to address the issue and restore normalcy to the once peaceful community.
His Highness Ibamughan Binarede Ojukonsin, urged the people of Aghoro Two Community to remain calm and peaceful, as they await the intervention of the government.
Some chiefs and women of the community said they are now refugees, living in another Community and the whereabouts of some of their family members are unknown.
They appealed to the Federal and Bayelsa State Governments to intervene and ensure Justice is done and their king is restored and the culprits brought to book
Please the government should intervene in this matter.. because they invaded and disrupted our peace
