JEDDO ROAD EXPANSION: MOTORISTS AND PEDESTRIANS STRANDED AS MAKESHIFT ROAD PARTS INTO TWO

Residents of Jeddo, Ughoton, Ugbokodo Okpe, Omadino and Obodo Communities in Okpe and Warri South Council Areas were on Saturday stranded as a make shift bridge made as a result of the ongoing expansion of the Jeddo Ughoton Road collapsed.
Correspondent reports that hundreds of motorists were stranded forcing many to resort to trekking while some vehicle owners packed their cars and board bike popularly known as Okada in order for them to get to their destination.
Road users from Jeddo, Oghoton, Ogbokodo Okpe, Obodo and Omadino Communities in Okpe and Warri South Council Areas of Delta State on Saturday morning woke up to see that the.makeshift bridge they have been passing as a result of the expansion of the Jeddo-Ughoton Road has been divided into two.
There was heavy traffic gridlock along the Jeddo-Ughoton Road, because of the heavy gully caused by the fast running water.
As a result of the heavy gully, which made the route impassable, many of the road users was forced to trekk while some cars meander through the bridge under construction.
Some persons who spoke to newsmen blamed the incidence on the construction firm handling the expansion road project.
They complained that the construction company was too slow in construction of the bridge, knowing too well that it is the only link route to five Communities.
The road users called on the Delta State Government to come to their aids by ensuring that the construction company speed up work on the Jeddo bridge so as to make access to Warri and other metropolis easy.
The road users who badly complained about just having only one access road to five Communities, appealed to Governor Ifeanyi Okowa to quickly complete the new Okpe road so as to enable road users have multiple access of roads in and out of the fast growing Communities.
With the bad state of this road, cutting five Communities from the rest of the world, it is hope that the construction company come up with action to expedite action on the construction work so as to enable people free movement in and out of the five Communities.
