As part of activities to mark the three years anniversary of Phew Foundation International,  the foundation on Sunday organized a one day sensitization program on rural women in Otokutu Community in Ughelli South local government area to educate them on their roles in addressing gender based violence, rape and child trafficking as well as a thanksgiving at Foursquare Gospel Church Ekpan District Headquarters to thank God.

Correspondent reports that the Director General of PHEW Foundation International Engineer Queen Chigbo said that the foundation in his three years of existence has been able to deliver on its set goals and objectives.


Engineer Queen Chigbo while addressing the Otokutu Community Women said that the role of women in curbing gender based violence, rape and child trafficking can not be overemphasized.


The PHEW Foundation International DG added that the acronym PHEW means Peace, Health, Anti Human Trafficking, Environment and Water.


She listed some of the achievements of the foundation over its three years of existence to include the following training of youths on solar panels installation to help increase the awareness of solar lights system and increase man power, catch them young campaign on different public schools, support the environment by planting trees in Domingo's College, Sensitization to Mofor market to educate the traders on the need to keep the market clean, as well as distribution of nose masks, hand gloves and rain boots to the traders.


According to her, others are market campaign for proper waste management and a clean abbatoir, clearing of bushy junctions to help keep the environment clean, reunite Nigerians from Serre Leone.


She further stated that in 2019 before the flood when NIMET started announcement of imminent flood in some LGA, the foundation went to Udu and Ughelli South Council Areas to sensitize the Chairmen to take action to avoid lost of life


Engineer Queen Chigbo emphasized that PHEW Foundation International through several television and radio programs has been able to spread the message against gender based violence, no to human trafficking, protection of the environment, amongst others.


Some resource persons including Engineer Augustina Ovuema, Mrs Blessing Oyem and Mrs Helen Lelekumo Okirika all educated the Otokutu Community Women on the role of women in reducing gender based violence, rape, human trafficking, causes of rape and molestation on the Girl Child, as well as to speak out when face with any.


A health expert, Chief Collins Ezewu also took out time to teach the women and members of Foursquare Gospel Church Ekpan District Headquarters on how to respond to collapsed victims and resuscitate them.


For his part, the Chairman of Ughelli South local government, Dr Richard Kofi who was represented by the secretary to the council, Mr Joseph Ubrurhe lauded PHEW Foundation International for taking the seminar to the rural women.


He equally assured the foundation of the Ughelli South Council Area support when necessary.


Some of the Otokutu Community Women who spoke to newsmen in their separate interviews said they have been taught so much and as such thanked the PHEW Foundation International for the seminar.

At the thanksgiving session at Foursquare Gospel Church Ekpan District Headquarters, the senior Pastor Reverend Emmanuel Imeleye said in his brief charged that it is good to give thanks unto the Lord.

Highpoint of the three years anniversary of PHEW Foundation International was the thanksgiving session to glorify God and some blessings of prayers from Reverend Emmanuel Imeleye on the foundation.
