URHOBO YOUTH CALL FOR ADOPTION OF RANCHING AS A PEACE GATE TO OPEN GRAZING

...says its an empowerment idea to harness

The President of the National Executive council of Urhobo progress union (UPU) Youth Wing, on behalf of the entire Urhobo youth worldwide, humbly appeal to Senator (Dr) Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa, the Governor of Delta state and Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborovwori, the Speaker of Delta State House of Assembly for adoption of Ranching as a means of sustaining peaceful coexistence and a driving empowerment to many youths instead of making the Fulani’s herdsmen landlords and dictators in our own home, Delta State. He emphasized that if this ranching adoption is adequately put in place, many youths across the 25 Local Government of Delta State, no doubt, a better Delta will not just be  a dream, but a reality because it will make provision for employment, the production of healthier animals through regular veterinary care, add value to the farm products, Promote peaceful coexistence, relief farmers and travelers from fear of herdsmen attack, promote mutual respect for one another, secure price control, food security, quality lifestyle for the good Fulani’s herders and Ranchers and checkmate the Jihadists movements through forest Rangers setup in the 25 Local government of Delta state.

While addressing press men at Urhobo Youth National Secretariat at Agbarho, the President of Urhobo Progress Union (UPU) Youth Wing Worldwide, Comrade Duru Nixon Ufuoma appealed to the Governor of Delta State and the Speaker of Delta State House of Assembly for the adoption of Ranching as a means of empowerment to Delta youths because it's business many young people are already be engaged on, instead of selling our lands or giving 30, 000  square meters in each Local Government Area which will amount 750,000 square meters across the state  to the Fulani herdsmen who will not only become Landlords and dictators to Delta people but use the opportunity to build and carry out their Jihad and terrorism agenda, where they will freely initiate our youths into their blood sucking and killing cultism.

Reacting further, he buttressed on the fact that this call was necessitated due to the potential and perilous dangers the ranching issue poses to Delta people if preventive and protective measures are not put in place. That the ignorance of the federal Government to put a permanent solution to the clashes of the Fulani’s herdsmen and farmers has led to loss of many lives and properties in many local government areas in Delta state and beyond. That it will be very regretful and shameful to sell our lands to Fulani’s and later become tenants in our own Lands, insisting that selling our lands to them means selling our rights and futures to the Fulani’s forever and they will not fail to use this Golden opportunity to buy nearly all our available Lands in the name of ranching with Nigeria funds through the back Doors.

Outside grazing and destroying our farmlands in various communities, the Fulani’s herdsmen have taken over and have converted our farmlands as their safe domain, and they have mapped out strategic areas as their targeting points for all forms of nefarious activities, including inter and intra state kidnapping and robberies. The activities of the bandits have not only adversely affected the farmers in our various communities but also the civil servants, politicians and business men and women who travels everyday for one purpose or another, especially, the users of East-west Road and Jesse -Agbor Road.

The President of Urhobo youth further expressed concern that Delta people are facing serious food shortage due to the fear of Fulani herdsmen attack, if you give them the opportunity to become Landlords in the 25 Local Government areas of Delta state by selling Lands for them, that means, you have given the Fulani Jihadists the license to increase the wave of banditry, kidnappings, killings and general criminalities in Delta state. We should know that the lack of apprehending or bringing the bad Fulani’s herdsmen to justice is breeding rapid insecurity in the country and it is becoming unbearable.

He warned that Nigeria’s growing food insecurity is in a total menace that if proactive step is not taken may spread to an alarming point of threatening the open grazing which is a total pandemic, because the open grazing had caused serious conflicts between farmers and herders across the country, leading to loss of lives, destruction of properties and sacking of many communities across the country, most especially in southern region states as in parts of Delta state. While calling for caution and peaceful co-existence among Deltans, President Duru expressed Urhobo youths support for Governor Ifeanyi Okowa over the ban on open grazing in Delta State and commended the Speaker and members of the Assembly for their commitment towards ensuring that the Bill is passed on time.
