OKOBARO OF UGHIEVWEN CONGRATULATES UPU EXCO ON THE 90TH YEAR ANNIVERSARY, WELCOMES GOVERNOR. OKOWA TO CEREMONY

The Okobaro of Ughievwen Kingdom, HRM (Dr.) Matthew Ediri Egbi, JP, FoD, AMNSE, RDN, Owahwa II, has congratulated the Executive of Urhobo Progress Union (U.P.U) led by Olorogun Dr. Moses Taiga and the entire Urhobo nation on the 90th anniversary of the UPU.


In a Congratulatory Message signed on behalf of the Okobaro by the Otota of Ughievwen Kingdom, Olorogun Matthew shaire and the President General of Ughievwen Union, Olorogun, Maj. Gen. Barr. Peter Unuode (Rtd) it was stated that the UPU has recorded tremendous success in unifying and giving a voice to the Urhobo nation.



The monarch recalled how the UPU established the popular Urhobo College Effurun and the influencing of Government College to Ughelli as well as giving scholarship to several Urhobo Indigenes to study within and outside the country.


The Okobaro commended the Olorogun Dr. Moses Taiga led Executive for his efforts in moving the apex Urhobo body forward and for the bold step taken in establishing the Ekugbe Micro Finance Bank and Urhobo University.

The Okobaro used the opportunity to welcome Governor Ifeanyi Okowa to the ceremony describing him as detribalised leader who loves the Urhobo as demonstrated in the massive development of Urhoboland.


He restated the unalloyed support of the Ughievwen people to the Governor Ifeanyi Okowa led administration.
