AUIU ROUNDS OFF 71ST ANNUAL CONFERENCE, ISSUES COMMUNIQUE
Agbarho Urhobo Improvement Union, AUIU, has rounded off it's 71st Annual Conference with a call on Agbarho Indigenes to be more united and work towards moving the kingdom forward.
Speaking at the well attended closing ceremony of the 71st Annual Conference, the Osuvie of Agbarho Kingdom, HRM William Onokpite thanked the leadership of Agbarho Urhobo Improvement Union for working with him and his Council of Chiefs in sustaining peace, unity and development in Agbarho kingdom.
The Osuvie prayed for sustained peace in the kingdom and progress as well as prosperity for all Indigenes and residents of the kingdom.
The President General of Agbarho Urhobo Improvement Union, Chief Monday Igho-Odiphri expressed happiness at the success of the conference and for the unwavering support of sons and daughters of the kingdom.
Chief Odiprhi stated that a lot of decisions were reached during the Conference while some of the issues were referred to the Mid Year Conference in order to give enough time for them to be deliberated upon.
He commended the Ovie of Agbarho kingdom, HRM William Onokpite for his fatherly advice, prayers and words of encouragement.
Chief Igho-Odiphri thanked Agbarho people for attending the Conference enmasse and for their support and show of solidarity over the years.
At the end of the 71st Annual Conference of AUIU, a six man Committee led by Chief Lucky Akpojowhovbo issued a communique on the resolutions reached, signed by the President General of AUIU, Chief Monday Igho-Odiphri.
Some of the resolutions include the setting up of a Committee on the Agbarho Micro Finance Bank, acceptance of Agbarho Boundary Committee Report and that of the Ibi Festival, presentation of letters to Industrial Plot Owners Defaulters of the kingdom's intention to reallocate such lands to recover their money.
Conference in Session also accepted the Audit Report as presented, to ensure cleanliness of the community, residents are to pay the sum of one thousand naira per month as Waste Disposal Bill and Collections while the President General will set a committee to that effect and also the increase of shops rent at the popular Agbarho market to shore up the revenue base of the kingdom.
It added that the ban on illegal collection of development fees popularly called "deve" is still on force to improve the aesthetics of the kingdom, the demolition of all extensions up to the drainage (5 feet) in all streets and major roads, overhaul of the security network of Agbarho kingdom by the President General and the compulsory teaching of Urhobo language in all schools in Agbarho kingdom.
