AGBARHO URHOBO IMPROVEMENT UNION HOLDS 71ST ANNUAL CONFERENCE, PRESIDENT GENERAL REELS OUT ACHIEVEMENTS.
The 71st Annual Conference of the Agbarho people in Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State started on Friday, with the President-General of Agbarho Improvement Union Chief Monday Odiprhi reeling out the achievements of the apex Agbarho body for the last one year.
The conference which was well attended had in attendance delegates from the various Communities that make up Agbarho kingdom.
In his Address President-General of Agbarho Improvement Union Chief Monday Odiprhi said the 71st Annual Conference provides an avenue for indigenes of Agbarho kingdom to brainstorm on ways of moving the kingdom forward.
Chief Odiprhi who commended security agents and local vigilante of the community for their efforts in ensuring security of lives and property in the kingdom in the last one year urged investors to take advantage of the prevailing peace in the kingdom to invest in it.
The President General of AUIU decried the poor electricity supply in the Kingdom and urged the Benin Electricity Distribution Centre, BEDC, to come to their aid and also provide prepaid meters for residents to prevent them from being over billed.
He hailed Governor Ifeanyi Okowa for his development initiative in the kingdom and appealed to him to construct more roads and other infrastructures in Agbarho and pledged their unalloyed support to the Okowa administration.
Chief Odiphri also commended the Deputy Senate President, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege for providing transformers for the kingdom and equally commended the member representing Ughelli-Udu Federal Constituency at the House of Representatives, Hon Francis Waive for attracting a classroom block to Agbarho Kingdom.
The President General of Agbarho Improvement Union restated that illegal collection of development levies remained banned in Agbarho kingdom explaining that the move was to encourage land developers.
A minute of silence was thereafter observed for souls of departed sons and daughters of Agbarho in the last one year.
The 71st Annual conference of Agbarho Urhobo Improvement Union continues on Saturday.
