NORMALCY RETURNS TO AGBARHO COMMUNITY, AFTER CULT CLASH, PG ASSURES OF SECURITY 

Normalcy has returned to Agbarho town following is the arrest of some persons behind the recent cult clash that claimed the lives of five persons.



When BladeNews visited Agbarho town business and social activities were going on smoothly with heavy security presence.


It would be recalled that, on the 6th of February 2022, the peace of the once peaceful Agbarho community was shattered following an alleged cult clash between Eiye and Black Axe confraternities in the community, which led to the death of five persons.



The Delta State Police Command swung into action following a distress call from the President General of Agbarho Urhobo Improvement Union, Chief Monday Igho-Odiphri and dispatched the Command's Anti-Cult Unit (SACU), Dragon Patrol Teams and Police Operatives from Agbarho Division to the troubled community.


The team led by the Divisional Police Officer, DPO,  Agbarho Division, CSP, Sam Ogwa

arrested eleven suspected cultists who actively participated in the cult clash that led to the reported deaths and launched a manhunt for fleeing suspects.


 This brought the situation under control and returned normalcy to the community.


A drive through Agbarho community in the early hours of Wednesday, our news crew observed that the area was peaceful and commercial and social activities have returned to normal.


Shop owners freely displayed their wares while vehicular movement appears to be on the increase, as commercial tricycle riders and bus drivers were seen hustling for passengers at the popular Agbarho five junction.


Some traders, motorists and residents said the situation was frightening but thanked God that normalcy has returned to the community.



For his part the President-General of Agbarho-Urhobo Improvement Union, Chief Monday Igho-odiphri said the unrest in Agbarho was caused by some cult groups who staged an attack on Saturday morning killing some persons.


Chief Igho-Odiprhi said for the past three years there was no cult clash in Agbarho and wondered what must have caused the Saturday's clash.


He commended the Nigerian Police and other security operatives for their swift reaction which nipped the situation in the bud.


Chief Igho-Odiphri who confirmed the arrest of some of the suspected perpetuators of the crime noted that the police are on the trail of fleeing members of the two cult groups and urged all cultist to repent of relocate from Agbarho Kingdom.


Chief Igho-Odiphri urged residents of Agbarho community to go about their business without fear as the situation has been brought under control and security agents are patrolling the area to forestall a reoccurrence.


Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Bright  Edafe confirmed the arrest of eleven suspects with dangerous weapons and the manhunt of fleeing members of the two rival cult groups and the patrolling of his men on the affected area.
