SICKLE CELL ANAEMIA:
HUMANITY FAMILY HEALTH FOUNDATION IN PARTNERSHIP WITH HUMANITY HOSPITAL PROVIDE FREE MEDICAL TO NIGERIANS
As the world marks World Sickle Cell day, Residents of Effurun and environs has benefitted from a free medical outreach by Humanity Family Health Foundation in collaboration with Humanity Hospital Director humanity family health foundation,dame clemetina bakpa said the outreach was aimed at deepening the awareness of sickle cell disease and killing the scourge of same in the rural area of the state.
The free outreach was held on saturday at the premises of Humanity Hospital,Enerhen in Uvwie Local Government Area.
The free health sickle cell warrior outreach by Humanity Family Health Foundation in collaboration with Humanity Hospital witnessed Health talk, Consultation, Free investigation, Free medication and free lab test.
Director humanity family health foundation, Dame Clemetina Bakpa said the theme for the 2022 world sickle cell day, shinning the light on sickle cell was apt as the surviving warriors need all the love, care and attention they can get.
Dame Bakpa noted that treatment of sickle cell anaemia requires huge resources, hence the need for Humanity Family Health Foundation to step in.
She said the free gestures by the Hospital Foundation was aimed at improving health care services to residents in Effurun and environs and especially sickle cell warriors.
Dame Bakpa however called on all to know their genotype while assuring that Humanity Hospital and Foundation is open to providing free test and consultation every month.
Dr Lady Ann Bazuaye, Manager of Humanity Hospital,Tessy Oyenkachi and Flora Binitie stressed the need for people to know their genotype and urged all to carry out advocacy on the need to know their genotype.
They averred that Sickle Cell Anaemia was not a death sentence adding that people with Sickle Cell disorder could get to their career heights with good management and care from the society.
Beneficiaries of the outreach lauded Humanity Hospital and Foundation for the gestures adding that it has brought light and hope to the sickle cell warrior.
World Sickle Cell Day is a United Nation's recognised day to raise awareness of sickle cell at a national and international level.
