NIGERIA DENTAL ASSOCIATION DELTA STATE BRANCH RENDERS FREE DENTAL CARE TO RESIDENTS IN UMIAGHWA-ABRAKA

As part of activities to commemorate this year's World Federation of Dentist FDI Community Outreach, the Nigeria Dental Association Delta State branch recently organized a one day free dental care to over three hundred residents in Umiaghwa-Abraka Kingdom in Ethiope East local government area of Delta State.



According to the Delta State Chairperson of the Nigeria Dental Association, Dr Mabiaku Yvonne called for the cooperation of the people to have dental awareness stressing on the importance of dental care to all. 


She added that such awareness will attract a Dental school to Delta State.

Other who spoke including Dr Tivere Emore the Delta State secretary of the Nigeria Dental Association Delta State Chapter all emphasised on oral care awareness for better living.



Earlier in the day, the Dental team paid courtesy call on HRM (AVM) Lucky Ochuko Ararile (rtd) Avwaeke1 Ovie of Umiaghwa-Abraka kingdom who was very happy and grateful to the Nigeria Dental Association for coming to his kingdom for the outreach and pledged his support with prayers to the association and urged them to feel free to call on him at anytime for his support.



Of the almost 300 patients attended to a total of 131 procedures were done with 50 persons having S&P,

 12 extractions, 47 Floride therapy for children between 3 and 14 years, 9 GIC fillings and 13 referrals.


All the patients screened received a toothbrush, Pepsodent toothpaste and educational fliers, Oral health education and demonstration was given to the participants.


A total of 2 dental therapists, 1 dental surgery assistant, two nurses, 1 health assistant and 4 dental surgeons including two consultant were present.


The free one day dental outreach organised by Nigeria Dental Association Delta State chapter for the World Dental Federation (FDI) was sponsored by Unilever and it cut across various age groups and gender.
