An INEC Accredited Voters Education Provider for the conduct of the 2023 General Elections, The Concerned Deltans for Good Governance Network CDGGN has begun sensitization of electorates on voter education and on their civic rights going into the Elections in 2023.
The group was at the Uvwie Local Government Area Secretariat in Effurun where they sensitized counsellors of the Uvwie Local Government Legislative Arm, Traditional Chiefs from Uvwie Kingdom as well as the Secretary to the Uvwie Local Government.
Also concluded were plans by the Concerned Deltans for Good Governance Network CDGGN to reach out to electorates from the Twenty-five Local Government Areas of Delta State.
Members of the Concerned Deltans for Good Governance Network CDGGN commenced the enlightenment of voters with visit to the Uvwie Local Government Area Secretariat where they met with some members of the Uvwie Local Government Legislative Arm, Secretary to the Uvwie Local Government Mrs Margaret Ubiku and Some Chiefs from the Uvwie Traditional Institution.
An Assistant Electoral Officer from the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC Mrs Okonji stated that education of voters play crucial role in the success of the 2023 polls hence the CDGGN understands this fact and has taken it upon itself to sensitize eligible electorates with the view to engender good Governance in the Country.
In a lecture two resource persons from Concerned Deltans for Good Governance Network CDGGN Evangelist Erugba and Mr Benjamin Akpiri told the the Uvwie Local Government counsellors that the bimodal machine used by INEC has been improved upon noting that there is the need to sensitize eligible voters especially those at the Wards and unit levels to prepare them for the election.
Evangelist Erugba and Mr Akpiri pointed out that several election malpractices like multiple thumb printing, snatching of ballot boxes, hoarding of Permanent Voters card PVC by politicians will no longer be necessary as the BVAS Machine would only accredit the real owner of the PVC thereby paving the way for a one man one vote system.
The resource persons noted that INEC has made provisions where people can report any fraudulent activities on election day with disclosing that electorates can snap shots 300 meters away and present such evidence to show that there was crisis at a particular polling unit noting that when these evidences are well presented INEC would cancel the election at such polling unit and order for the conduct a fresh election within 14 days.
They revealed that the implications is that there would be no need for the electorates to be bothered about whether there is violence, thuggery and fight as it used to be in previous elections adding that INEC Was bent on conducting a free, fair and peaceful election that would reflect the true wishes of the Electorates.
Members of the Concerned Deltans for Good Governance Network CDGGN stated that a new date would be set aside for the sensitization of voters at the Wards and Unit levels.
In her response Secretary to Uvwie Local Government Mrs Margaret Ubiku speaking on behalf of the Uvwie Local Government Chairman Hon. Ramson Onoyake appreciated the Concerned Deltans for Good Governance Network CDGGN for taking it upon themselves to sensitize electorates free of charge all for the benefit to entrench good governance.
