NDDC SETS TO COMMENCE ITS POWER IMPROVEMENT PROJECT TO ADDRESS ISSUE OF EPILEPTIC POWER SUPPLY IN ABRAKA AXIS

The issue of epileptic power supply in Abraka axis of Ethiope East local government area will soon be a thing of the past, with the power improvement project in Abraka embarked upon by the federal government through the Niger Delta Development Commission NDDC to serve the locality.
Bladenews24 correspondent reports that this was made known on Wednesday when management team of NDDC Delta State Office Warri visited the Ovie of Umiaghwa-Abraka Kingdom, (AVM) Lucky Ochuko Ararile (Rtd) for the formal handover and kick off of the project at his palace.
Speaking shortly after the visit, the former Acting Managing Director/CEO NDDC and Delta State NDDC Director, Engr. (Dr) Emmanuel Audu-Ohwoaworua who is from the kingdom said that the power improvement project when completed will help to address the issue of blackout in the area.
Engr. Ohwoaworua told newsmen that the main injection sub station at Abraka could no longer serve the area, hence NDDC as an interventionist agency will through this power improvement project inject more power to the sub station.
He disclosed that a 7.5 MVA Transformer will be installed at the sub station as well as the installation of relief transformers and meters for residents.
According to Engr. Ohwoaworua the project which will cost over eight hundred million naira will greatly be beneficial to the people, noting that constant supply of electricity will not only boost small scale businesses but also address issues of crime that are committed at night.
Engr.Ohwoaworua noted that Umiaghwa-Abraka is one of the peaceful kingdoms in the Niger Delta Region where NDDC projects are protected and used for the good of the people.
Engr.Ohwoaworua who also spoke of the bad state of the Sapele-Obiaruku road, said that the commission will commence intervention works on the road, adding that the contractor will be mobilized to site after the raining season.
Earlier Assistant Director Delta State NDDC Engineer Jeremiah Oritsejolone said that the importance of constant electricity supply cannot be overemphasize, hence the commencement of the power improvement project to light up the area.
Engineer Oritsejolone used the medium to laud the Ovie of Umiaghwa-Abraka Kingdom, (AVM) Lucky Ochuko Ararile (Rtd), Avwaeke the first, and his subjects for always maintaining NDDC Projects in the Kingdom.
Speaking in a similar vein, the contractor of the project Engr. Tobi Frank said that the project is expected to be completed within a time frame of one month plus.
For his part, the Ovie of Umiaghwa-Abraka Kingdom, (AVM) Lucky Ochuko Ararile (Rtd), Avwaeke the first, thanked the NDDC team of management for the project.
The Umiaghwa-Abraka monarch equally commended Engr. Ohwoaworua who is one of his subjects, for attracting the project to the area.
He assured the contractor of the kingdom support to him and his team as they kick start work.
Some residents of the area who spoke to newsmen said that the blackout these past weeks in the area has affected them, couple with the high cost of running generator.
They added that the successful completion of the power improvement project will no doubt add value to their businesses.
Members of the NDDC which include Engr. Oritsejolomi, the Assistant Director Delta State NDDC, Engr Sweet Tefue Snr. manager NDDC later went on a site monitoring to inspect the places where the project will be done
