PDP Ewu Ward 1 Suspends Etaga, Adasen-Efeviroro, Oduaran Over Constitution Breach, Misconduct

By Sunday Apah

The Peoples Democratic Party of Ewu Ward 1 in Ughelli South Local Government Area of Delta State has suspended former Chairman of Ughelli South Local Government Council, Hon. Paul Etaga, immediate past Commissioner for Science and Technology, Mrs Jennifer Oma Adasen-Efeviroro, and former Chairman of PDP in Ughelli South Local Government Area, Chief Vincent Oduaran over allegations of breaching the constitution and engaging in misconduct.

During a meeting held on Wednesday, June 5, 2024, the PDP Ewu Ward 1 also rejected the purported suspension of its Caretaker Committee Chairman, Hon. Precious Onome Ejenake, and reaffirmed him as the authentic chairman of the Ward.

In a letter signed by Hon. Precious Onome Ejenake, Chairman of the Caretaker Committee, Ewu Ward 1, along with Ex-Officio member Mr. Felix Iboyi, Acting Secretary Mr. Lorin Ogirigbo, and Ex-Officio members Mrs. Blessing Efenudu and Mrs. Najite Ogilo, addressed to the Local Government Area Chairman of the PDP in Ughelli South Local Government Area, Chief Michael Oshetigho, the trio's actions causing discord among party members were strongly condemned.

The Executive of PDP Ewu Ward 1, which also informed Governor Oborevwori, the State Party Chairman Olorogun Kingsley Esiso, and other relevant leaders, stated that the suspension of Honourable Etaga, Mrs. Adasen-Efeviroro, and Chief Oduaran is in accordance with sections 59, 1d, 58, 1g, 1h, and 1i of the PDP constitution.

A vote of confidence was passed on Hon. Precious Onome Ejenake as the Chairman of the Ewu Ward one. This decision was made to uphold the agreement among Party leaders regarding the rotation of Party officers among the three blocs after two tenures. It was emphasized that Ejenake did nothing wrong but has always stood on the side of truth.

Other stakeholders of the PDP in Ewu Ward one, including Hon. Michael Aye, Olorogun Felix Ogboru, and Dr. Solomon Enimu, have declared the alleged suspension of Honourable Ejenake as the chairman of the PDP in Ewu Ward one to be illegal and misleading.

Hon. Aye, Dr. Enimu, and Olorogun Ogboru, who spoke to the press, called upon the leaders and members of the PDP in Ughelli South, Delta Central, and the State to disregard the suspension, describing the action as arbitrary.

They pointed out that the decision of the Ward Exco of the Party aligns with the rotation policy of the PDP in the Ward. The Otor-Ewu block had held the positions of Chairman and Woman leader for 22 years (1998 to 2020), reflecting the rotation principle within the Party.
