FOOTBALL COMPETITION; Delta Ethnic Peace And Unity Cup LOC Visits Patani LG Chairman Over The Tournament

In continuation of its engagement with stakeholders, the Delta Ethnic Peace and Unity Cup Local Organizing Committee LOC members on Wednesday paid a visit to the Patani local government Chairman Hon. Isaac Aguanah to brief him on the forthcoming football competition.
The Organizer of the Delta Ethnic Peace and Unity Cup, Comrade Sheriff Mulade said that the football competition is aimed at fostering more unity among the various participating ethnic groups.
Comrade Sheriff Mulade told the Patani local government Chairman Hon. Isaac Aguanah that he led the local organizing committee LOC members to his office to inform him of Patani football team participation in the tournament.
Comrade Mulade stated that the football tournament which was formally for Ijaw and Itsekiri ethnic groups has now be expanded to accommodate Urhobo and Isoko ethnic groups.
He emphasuzed that with time the football tournament will be extended to all the ethnic groups in the state.
He noted that on the opening ceremony of the tournament which falls on November 16, a date for the World Tolerance Day, a novelty football match will be played between concerned stakeholders like him and others.
The Delta Ethnic Peace and Unity Cup organizer who responded to the Patani local government Chairman concern on football talents in the council area not being given the opportunity to ply their trade in big football clubs or play in the Nigeria football team, said that the tournament over the years has served as a veritable platform for where ex soccer stars and football agent hunt for young talents.
He lauded the Patani local government Chairman for not only accepting them to his office but for also pledging his commitment to the success of the football competition.
Responding the Patani local government Chairman Hon. Isaac Aguanah said that as a lover of the round leather game, he is pleased to be part of the tournament.
He commended the organizer of the tournament Comrade Sheriff Mulade for championing peaceful coexistence among different ethnic groups in the state through playing of football.
Comrade Sheriff Mulade in company of the tournament LOC leader for Patani and Bomadi local government areas Mr. Ezonebi Aguanah presented the tournament jersey to the Chairman of Patani local government Hon. Isaac Aguanah.
