Emulate Virtues of Sacrifice Exemplified by Saint Valentine- Nze Francis Onuora
As Christians prepare to observe this years Valentine's day usually held on February 14 the Senior Special Assistant SSA to Delta State Governor on Non Indigenes Affairs Nze Francis Onuora has called on Non Indigenes in the state to concentrate on the lessons of the feast which exemplifies love and sacrifice.
Valentine's Day, also called Saint Valentine's Day or the Feast of Saint Valentine originated as a Christian feast day honoring a martyr named Valentine.
Though Valentine day has become a significant cultural, religious and commercial celebration of romance and love in many regions of the world Nze Onuora stipulated that christians particularly must copy that aspect of love, empathy and sacrifice from the feast and translate such into their everyday life.
The Governor's aide stressed the need to engender love by using the celebration of the day to put smiles on the faces of the less privileged including the orphans, widows and the elderly.
Nze Onuora cautioned that saint Valentine's day should depict true love for one another and not a time for immorality as its wrongly portrayed.
Nze Onuora also called for stiffer penalties to be meted on persons who take undue advantage of under age children all in the name of Saint Valentine's day.
