NUJ DBS Warri Chapel Organizes AI Training for Members
In a bid to equip its members with cutting-edge skills, the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Delta Broadcasting Services (DBS) Warri Chapel, in collaboration with the News and Current Affairs Department, held a one-day Artificial Intelligence (AI) training session on Tuesday.
The training, which aimed to enhance members' journalism practice, featured resource persons Mr. Linus Chima and Mr. Philip Emu, who lectured on the effective use of AI in news writing, reporting, and scripting.
In his opening remarks, General Manager Pastor Malcolm Oteri emphasized the importance of acquiring the right training in today's fast-paced world, quoting Proverbs 18:15. He urged participants to take the training seriously and apply the knowledge gained in their work.
Other station officials, including Mrs. Augusta Okoro (Head of Finance and Account Department), Mrs. Eucharia Akarua (HOD News and Current Affairs), and Mr. Wilson Onose (HOD Programme), commended the NUJ DBS Warri Chapel Executive for organizing the training.
Chairman NUJ DBS Warri Chapel, Comrade John Glover, described the training as timely, given the revolution in journalism practice. He revealed plans to make AI training a periodic exercise for members.
Trainees praised the training, saying it would improve their job delivery. With this initiative, members of the union are expected to be better equipped to leverage AI in their work.
