DELTA @34: MULADE URGES GOVERNOR OBOREVWORI TO PRIORITIZE RIVERINE COMMUNITIES





As Delta State marks its 34th anniversary, Comrade Sheriff Mulade, a peace and environmental rights advocate, has called on Governor Sheriff Oborevwori to focus on addressing the infrastructural deficit in riverine communities. 


According to Comrade Mulade despite generating significant revenue for the state through oil and gas and the blue economy, these communities have been largely neglected.


On Infrastructure Development, Comrade Mulade urged the Delta State Governor to construct critical infrastructure, such as the Ayakoromo bridge and Omadino road, to improve connectivity and economic opportunities in riverine communities.


He also recommended converting the former Delta State School of Marine Technology in Burutu into a university or campus with a focus on maritime studies to harness the blue economy.



While speaking on meaningful Projects, Comrade Mulade advised the governor to prioritize flagging off meaningful projects that will drive industrialization and create employment opportunities for youths, rather than lavishing resources on unnecessary celebrations.


Comrade Mulade encouraged Governor Oborevwori to emulate the example of former Governor James Onanefe Ibori, who invested in critical infrastructure projects, such as the Bomadi and Omadino bridges. 


"By prioritizing the development of riverine communities, the governor can make a meaningful impact and leave a lasting legacy for the people of Delta State he said"
