CALL FOR PEACE IN WARRI: MULADE URGES GOVERNOR OBOREVWORI TO ACT

Renowned peace advocate Comrade Sheriff Mulade who is the National Coordinator of the Centre for Peace and Environmental Justice CEPEJ has called on Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori to intervene in the growing tension among Urhobo, Itsekiri, and Ijaw ethnic groups in Warri Federal Constituency.
The tension, sparked by recent ward delineation exercises and the alleged removal of coronation anniversary banners, threatens to escalate into a full-blown crisis.
Comrade Mulade urged Governor Oborevwori to initiate a dialogue to foster peace and unity in Warri Area.
He emphasized the need for swift action to prevent crisis.
He charged security agencies to be professional and impartial, warning against allowing themselves to be used for selfish interests.
Comrade Mulade advised traditional rulers to call their subjects to order and promote peace over violence.
He equally cautioned youths in Warri against acts that could jeopardize investments and government projects, stressing that peace is more valuable than conflicts.
Comrade Mulade who is a prominent Chief in Gbaramatu Kingdom urged INEC to resolve pending ward delineation issues, citing it as a root cause of the tension.
