IJAW LEADER COMRADE SHERIFF MULADE URGES GOV. OBOREVWORI TO PRIORITIZE RIVERINE DEVT IN DELTA 2026 BUDGET SO AS TO GET 100% IJAW VOTES COME 2027
A prominent Ijaw leader, Comrade (Chief) Mulade Sheriff, PhD, has stated that Ijaw votes in the 2027 governorship election will be determined by projects allocated and adequately funded in the 2026 budget.
Comrade Mulade, a renowned human and environmental rights activist made the statement after an expanded stakeholders meeting in Warri, on behalf of Ijaw Ethnic Nationality in the state, ahead of the proposed consideration for endorsement of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori as the sole candidate by Delta Ijaws.
He commended Governor Oborevwori's infrastructural development in upland areas but lamented the absence of similar projects in riverine areas, despite their population density and revenue contributions.
Comrade Mulade, who is the Ibe-Sorimowei of ancient Gbaramatu Kingdom cited several projects, including the Ayakoromo bridge, Omadino-Okerenkoko-Kokodiagbene-Escravos road, and Aladja-Ogbe-Ijoh Road, Ojobo-Torugbene Road among others as critical for the Delta Ijaw nation.
He appealed for the upgrading of the Delta State Maritime Polytechnic, Burutu, to a campus of the Delta State University, Abraka, and the establishment of a campus of Dennis Osadebe University at Koko.
He equally solicited for the building of a first class Health Centres and General Hospital in riverine communities particularly at Ogulagha Town, to compensate the people for their huge contributions to the state revenue.
Mulade assured Governor Oborevwori of 100% Ijaw votes in 2027, pending commitment to development through massive project inclusion for the area.
He implored Governor Oborevwori to write his name in gold by revolutionising the riverine areas with people oriented projects which will no doubt help to give the people a sense of belonging and then translate into votes come 2027 for Governor Oborevwori.
