OSUBI AIRPORT NOW THE FOURTH BUSIEST AIRPORT IN NIGERIA -AIRPORT MANAGER
The Deputy General Manager of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria and Airport Manager, Osubi International Airport, Mr Winston Ifeacho Egwuatu, has reiterated his team’s commitment to sustaining quality service at an affordable price.
The Airport Manager said this when the executives of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, DBS Warri Chapel, paid management of the airport a courtesy visit.
Receiving the executive members of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, DBS Warri Chapel in his office, a Deputy General Manager of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria and Airport Manager, Osubi International Airport, Mr Winston Ifeacho Egwuatu, said the airport was practically inactive when he took over the helms of affairs.
According to him, this forced air travellers from Warri, Uvwie, Ughelli and neighbouring towns to travel to Asaba, Benin and Port Harcourt Airports to board flights to their destinations.
Mr Winston Ifeacho Egwuatu noted that, on assumption of office he and his team of management swung into action by liaising with relevant stakeholders to revamp the airport and boos the confidence of customers.
He noted that with hard work, dedication and resilience, the situation has changed significantly, as the airport which is now the fourth busiest in the country, now has more than seven commercial aircraft companies operating flying to different destinations.
Mr Winston Ifeacho Egwuatu disclosed that the Osubi Airport currently offers cheapest flight fares in the country, noting that Warri to Lagos route cost ninety-five thousand naira only for passengers that made reservations a week ahead.
The airport manager urged residents in Warri, Uvwie, Ughelli and neighbouring towns to take advantage of the smooth and safe flight operations at the airport to make their journeys faster and more convenient.
He further revealed that plans are underway to expand the runway to enhance operational efficiency and support business growth for airline operators.
Mr Winston Ifeacho Egwuatu commended Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Olorogun Festus Keyamo, the host community and other stakeholders for their support in ensuring the airport operates at optimal capacity.
He also praised Governor Oborevwori for the ongoing development across the state, noting that the administration remains committed to the welfare of Deltans.
The Osubi Airport Manager assured the Executive of NUJ DBS Warri Chapel of sustained partnership inorder to enhance the services of Delta Broadcasting Servic, DBS Warri.
Earlier, the Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, DBS Warri Chapel, Comrade John Glover, said the visit was to explore areas of partnership and to commend the Airport Manager for the innovations that have repositioned the airport.
Comrade Glover appealed to the airport management to support the station with a Solar Power System to power the Editing Suite, Typing Pool and Newsroom of DBS Warri for seamless news production.
