The newly elected National Treasurer

of the Ijaw National Congress (INC) worldwide, Double Chief (Comrade) Sheriff Mulade (PhD), the Ibe-Serimowei of the ancient oil-rich Gbaramatu Kingdom in Delta State, has conveyed heartfelt appreciation to stakeholders and the Ijaw Nation for the overwhelming support that led to his victory at the April 13, 2026 national elections.

In a statement, Comrade Mulade thanked the outgoing INC President, Prof. Benjamin Okaba, members of the National Executive Council (NEC), the 2026 National Electoral Commission chaired by His Royal Majesty, Justice F. F. Tabai (Rtd), national delegates, and the entire Ijaw Nation for the confidence reposed in him.

He described his emergence as a collective mandate and a call to higher responsibility and dedicated service.

Comrade Mulade pledged to work in synergy with members of the executive council led by High Chief Macdonald Igbadiwei Esq, alongside critical stakeholders, to ensure transparency, accountability, and prudent financial management within the congress.

“I am deeply honoured by this mandate and remain committed to upholding the highest standards of accountability in the discharge of my duties,” he said.

The newly elected treasurer further assured of his commitment to strengthening the INC and promoting unity, progress, and sustainable development across the Ijaw Nation.

The renowned environmentalist and peace advocate also reiterated his readiness to support strategic initiatives aimed at repositioning the congress and enhancing its role in advancing the socio-cultural and political aspirations of the Ijaw people.

He added that there is a need for the INC to evolve beyond a conventional socio-cultural organisation into a productive platform, with emphasis on creating business opportunities for the Ijaw people and the Niger Delta region.

According to him, this includes the establishment of INC farms, fishing ports, and corporate and administrative employment opportunities through constructive engagement with multinational companies operating in Ijawland.
