It further stated that renowned veteran journalists, Dr. Godwin Orhadahwe (PhD), Mr. Linus Chima, other seasoned broadcasters, as well as a representative of the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC), will present lectures on various aspects of election reporting and media professionalism.
The organisers noted that the training is designed to equip media practitioners with the skills, knowledge, and ethical standards required for responsible and professional election coverage.
Speaking on the importance of the programme, Comrade Glover said the training became necessary in view of the critical role journalists play in strengthening democracy through accurate, balanced, and credible reportage.

He stressed that election coverage requires a high degree of professionalism, objectivity, and adherence to ethical standards, adding that the workshop would provide participants with practical insights into reporting electoral processes, combating misinformation and disinformation, and promoting peaceful elections through responsible journalism.
The NUJ DBS Warri Chapel expressed optimism that the training would contribute significantly to improving the quality of election coverage ahead of the 2027 General Elections.
The union also called on journalists across media organisations to actively participate in the programme, reaffirming its commitment to promoting professionalism, ethical conduct, and excellence in the practice of journalism.
