YCOM Endorses Oborevwori For Second Term, Pledges Grassroots Mobilisation
The YCOM Movement for Good Governance has endorsed the Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, for a second term in office ahead of the 2027 General Elections.
The endorsement was made on Wednesday, October 7, 2026, when members of the grassroots-based political movement gathered to formally declare their support for the Governor's re-election bid.
Speaking at the event, the National Coordinator of YCOM, Hon. Felix Company Yerinbowei, said the group was non-partisan and committed to supporting what it described as credible candidates.
Yerinbowei said the decision to endorse Governor Oborevwori followed the group's assessment of what he described as the administration's interventions across various sectors of the state.
According to him, “We are not affiliated to a particular political party. We stand for credible candidates, and having assessed what Governor Sheriff Oborevwori has done so far, we believe he deserves our support for a second term.”
Yerinbowei, a former Councillor in the Legislative Arm of Warri South-West Local Government Area, described Governor Oborevwori as a “workaholic leader”, saying the administration had, in his view, recorded interventions in infrastructure, education, sports, economic development and human capital development.
He said the movement would leverage its grassroots structure to mobilise members and supporters across communities in support of the Governor's re-election bid.
“We have a presence at the grassroots, and we will mobilise our members and supporters across the communities to support the Governor as we approach the 2027 General Elections,” he said.
The YCOM National Coordinator also commended the Chairman of Warri South-West Local Government Area, Hon. Sylvester Oromoni, for what he described as efforts to transform the council area and improve the welfare of residents.
Also speaking, the National Secretary of YCOM, Comrade Boro Ebikake, said the endorsement was informed by what he described as Governor Oborevwori's commitment to implementing his administration's programmes.
“From the first day he assumed office, the Governor hit the ground running. We believe his administration has demonstrated commitment to the programmes it set out to implement, and that informed our decision to endorse him,” Ebikake said.
Some members of the organisation who spoke at the event also expressed support for the Governor's re-election bid, pledging to work at the grassroots ahead of the 2027 elections.
The event culminated in the formal endorsement of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for a second term, with YCOM members expressing their readiness to commence grassroots mobilisation ahead of the 2027 General Elections.
The group had previously been identified in media reports as a grassroots-oriented socio-political movement led by Hon. Felix Company Yerinbowei.
