 BARRISTER KINGSLEY OTUARO SAYS THE DEMISE OF EVANGELIST S Y MAMAMU IS A GREAT LOSS By Joshua Okpanefe The State Deputy Governor,Deacon Kingsley Otuaro says the death of renowned Ijaw leader, Chief S.Y Mamamu was a great loss to the Ijaw nation, Niger Delta and the country at large. Deacon Otuaro stated this during a condolence visit to the Mamamu family in Warri. Deacon Otuaro said the news of the death of Chief S.Y Mamamu came to him as a rude shock. He described late Evangelist S Y Mamamu as  a good man whose legacies would remain indelible. Describing late Evangelist S Y Mamamu as a vocal voice for the development of the Niger Delta, the State Deputy Governor noted that Chief  S.Y Mamamu lived a life of service to God, his family and humanity.  INTERNATIONAL DAY OF PEACE: CEPEJ DECORATES OLU OF WARRI AS PATRON   The Center for Peace and Environmental Justice CEPEJ on Tuesday decorated the Olu of Warri Ogiame Atuwatse III as its patron to mark this year’s International Day of Peace. The Country Director of CEPEJ, Comrade Sheriff Mulade said that the Itsekiri monarch was chosen as patron of the foundation because he promised to promote peace during his coronation ceremony.   Comrade Mulade said that the coronation speech of the Olu of Warri Ogiame Atuwatse the third made the foundation to make him its patron adding that CEPEJ strongly recognized the role of traditional rulers in preaching peace to their subjects. He disclosed that he periodically organised peace football tournaments between the Ijaws and Itsekiris as part of efforts to curb youth restiveness in the society. Warri- The Bendel Estate residence of the former Chairman of Warri South West Local Government Chief David Pere on Saturday received sympathizers of the Warri South West Political Alliance Members who came to commiserates with him over the passage of his mother Mama Eperede Pere. The Deputy Coordinator of Warri South West Political Alliance Mr Newman Ekpo led the delegation on the condolence visit. EDUCATION: PUBLIC AND PRIVATE SCHOOLS OPEN FOR FIRST TERM ACADEMIC SESSION Primary and Secondary Schools in Delta State reopened for a new academic session Monday. Despite the downpour that lasted for an hour,teachers and few learners and students came to school on first day of resumption.  Education  Correspondent Joelson Esiete reports that delay in the release of promotion examination results by the education ministry appears to be a source of concern to both parents and school authorities  The downpour Monday morning as the schools reopened for another academic session did not prevent teachers and their learners and students from coming to school.  Though a large population of the students especially from the public schools were yet to access the schools. Two time Commissioner in Delta State, Sir Bright Edejeghwro has bowed to pressure as he signified his interest to fly the flag of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Delta State gubernatorial election come 2023. Sir Edejeghwro a former Councillor and Transition Committee Chairman of Uvwie LGA  made his intention known when hundreds of youths from the twenty-five Local Government Areas of the State paid him a visit to appeal to him to run for the Governorship Seat of the State. BAD ROADS IN URBAN WARRI: MOTORISTS APPEAL FOR QUICK REHABILITATION Warri- Motorists and other road users in Warri and its environs have appealed to the state government and Warri South Council to rehabilitate bad portions of roads in the commercial nerve center of the state to alleviate their sufferings. Correspondent Omonigho Edaah reports that the state of the roads at Ibo Market by Okere Junction, Okumagba Estate axis and Bowen Avenue all in Warri South Local Governmnet Area are currently begging for urgent attention especially with the increased rainfall.  Vehicles and tricycles popularly called keke were seen trying to avoid bad spots thereby causing traffic jam. Speaking to newsmen on the state of the roads, some vehicle and tricycle owners said that the bad spots on most of the roads have continued to cause pain and loss of man hour with its attendant cost implications on damaged cars and tricycles. DELTA CP VISITS NBTC; EMPHASIZES THE POLICE FORCE READINESS TO COMBAT CRIME IN THE STATE Udu- Delta State Commissioner of Police, Mr Ari Mohammed has reiterated the commitment of the Nigerian Police Force in the state to get rid of crime and social vices in the state. Mr Mohammed stated this on Friday when he led his team to the premises of Niger Benue Transport Company NBTC limited in Ovwian in Udu local government area on a familiarization visit to the company.
